A new SDN-based framework for wireless local area networks

Nowadays wireless networks are becoming important in personal and public communication andgrowing very rapidly. Similarly, Software Dened Network (SDN) is an emerging approach to over-come challenges of traditional networks. In this paper, a new SDN-based framework is proposedto ne-grained control of 802.11 Wireless LANs. This work describes the benets of programmableAcc...

Combined Source and Channel Coding for Wireless ATM LANs

It is widely recognized that a viable method to provide “anytime, anywhere” communication needs is by means of wireless technologies. In the indoor wireless environment, the 1-2 Mb/s wireless link technology that is currently available from several vendors (for example, WaveLan) will soon be replaced by higher capacities in the near future. For example, several manufacturers plan to develop rad...

Hydroalcoholic Extract of Levisticum officinale Increases cGMP Signaling Pathway by Down-Regulating PDE5 Expression and Induction of Apoptosis in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-468 Breast Cancer Cell Lines

Background: This study aimed to investigate Levisticum officinale hydroalcoholic extract (LOHE) effect on both cGMP signaling pathway and phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) gene expression pattern and to examine the role of LOHE in apoptosis induction of MCF-7 and MDA-MB-468 cell lines. Methods: The half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of LOHE was examined in both cell lines using the MTT assay...

Modulation and Equalisation Considerations for High Performance Radio LANs

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) is currently defining a European standard for HIgh PERformance Radio LANs (HIPERLAN). To operate as wired LAN replacements, these systems will need to offer data rates as high as 20 Mb/s. To counteract the time dispersive nature of the indoor radio channel, adaptive equalisation is proposed at the receiver. In this paper a number of pos...

A New Cooperative MAC Protocol for Wireless LANs

This paper introduces a new cooperative MAC-protocol for wireless LANs. This scheme is totally compatible with the legacy systems and leverages the multi-rate capability of IEEE systems. The proposed protocol is evaluated via theoretical analysis and the result shows a throughput improvement using the same physical layer as in IEEE802.11b.
